As we approach the new year, Baton Rouge Community College’s (BRCC) Division of Business and Law is proudly offering three no-cost Industry-Based Certifications (IBC) to help jump-start the careers of individuals in the local community.

“We take pride in identifying regional needs and breaking down barriers to student access,” said BRCC Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith, Sr. “These free certifications are out latest commitment to providing in-demand training that meets the workforce needs of our community as we provide solutions that empower the members of our community and help grow and sustain our economy.”

The three certifications will provide comprehensive training, equipping participants with in-demand skills for job growth and advancement in 2024. The certifications are designed for quick and easy completion, providing valuable skills in a short timeframe in the areas of Construction Site Safety Orientation, Forklift Training, and Customer Services and Sales. About the Certifications:

Construction Site Safety Orientation

  • Mode: Hybrid (Online and In-Person)
  • Certification: From the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)
  • Dates Offered: Ongoing enrollment
  • Registration Details: Visit mybrcc.edu/enrollment/workforce.php.

Forklift Training

  • Duration: Complete in only two (2) hours
  • Certification or Re-certification: Meets operator training requirements under OSHA’s Powered Industrial Truck Standard
  • Dates Offered: Ongoing enrollment
  • Registration Details: visit mybrcc.edu/enrollment/workforce.php.

Customer Service and Sales

The certifications are not only free, but are also quick to complete, making it easy for participants to upskill and prepare for the job market of tomorrow. Whether individuals are looking to operate heavy machinery, enhance their customer service abilities, or ensure safety on construction sites, BRCC’s training programs are able to help them succeed.
