Prerequisites

To ensure course placement leads to academic success, BRCC has defined prerequisites for courses that will be taken in pursuit of a degree.  Prerequisites are defined as minimum required scores on standardized tests or successful completion of a related course.  Course prerequisites can be found on the online course schedule or through DegreeWorks.

If you have successfully completed prerequisite courses at another institution, you may either request an override for the course by completing an override request  or by submitting your official transcript(s) to our Registrar’s Office.  Override requests may be granted for a single semester whereas transcript submission will allow course evaluations to be placed on your student record.  Please visit our Transcript Evaluation page for more information on this process.

Placement Testing

BRCC accepts ACT and SAT scores taken within 5 years.  These scores may be sent to brccadmissions@mybrcc.edu.  BRCC also accepts Accuplacer NexGen scores taken within 3 years for placement in courses.  Our Testing Center offers AccuplacerNexGen testing for students choosing to take it.

Self-Directed Placement

Students may also choose to take the self-directed placement surveys below for placement into courses.  This option is recommended for students who do not have test scores available or who believe they would be successful in courses at a higher level than the test scores indicate.  The assessment results are only a recommendation.  Students are not required to take courses at a higher level, if they do not believe they will be successful.
