Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is excited to announce the appointment of Terrilyn Cunningham as the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). With a rich career spanning over two decades in the field of Human Resources, Cunningham is poised to bring her wealth of experience and expertise to the college, enhancing the institution’s commitment to excellence in human resources services and employee engagement.

BRCC's Office of Human Resources plays a critical role in supporting the college's mission and vision. The HR office is dedicated to providing quality customer service, engaging in creative solutions, fostering growth, and serving the faculty, staff and students employed at BRCC’s eight educational sites.

As CHRO, Cunningham will oversee talent acquisition, employee onboarding, benefits and payroll, diversity and compliance, Title IX coordination, professional development and training, and employee engagement and retention. Her experience in strategic planning, employee relations, training, and Human Resources Information System (HRIS) implementation positions her as an ideal leader to guide BRCC's human resources initiatives.

Terrilyn Cunningham is a seasoned Human Resources professional with 21 years of experience. She is passionate 

about serving the Louisiana community, and has made remarkable contributions in both the public and private sectors.

In her most recent role as a strategic business partner with JenCare Senior Medical, Cunningham played a pivotal role on the regional executive leadership team, where employee retention rates increased as a result of her work performance. Prior to that, she served as HR Director at River Oaks Hospital, collaborating with the CEO and CFO to enhance the onboarding process and elevate engagement and retention through establishing trust and transparency. At both companies, she led transformative initiatives in people processes, engagement, onboarding, and compensation realignment.

Cunningham’s 17-year tenure at LSU Health Sciences Center showcased her as a strategic planner and thought leader. Her expertise spans employee relations, training, and Human Resources Information System implementation.

Guided by values of integrity, accountability, and community, Cunningham is a cultural leader with humility and vision. Her journey reflects a passion for developing people and a proven record of partnering with leadership to drive HR transformation and organizational success.

Cunningham holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of New Orleans and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from Louisiana State University – Shreveport.

Outside her professional pursuits, she enjoys family time, travel, theater, and musicals, showcasing her love for music and the arts. As she embarks on a new chapter at BRCC, Cunningham remains poised to continue making waves in the dynamic realm of business excellence through transformative leadership.
