Formosa Plastics Corporation,  a dedicated partner of Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC), was recently awarded the Curt Eysink Excellence in Workforce Development Award from the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS). The award was presented to Formosa by BRCC Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith at the 2023 LCTCS Annual Conference Impact Awards ceremony, highlighting the company's pivotal role in advancing innovative strategies that enhance educational opportunities and excellence for LCTCS, BRCC, and its students.

The Curt Eysink Excellence in Workforce Development Award is a testament to organizations and individuals who have made substantial contributions to workforce development in Louisiana. Formosa epitomizes this spirit through its continued commitment to BRCC and the broader community.

Formosa has been a longstanding supporter of BRCC’s Process Technology program, with their Human Resources Specialist Michael Bledsoe actively serving on the Process Technology Advisory Board and the BRCC Foundation Board. The close partnership and service on the advisory board helps to ensure that BRCC’s Process Technology program remains on the cutting edge, preparing students effectively for promising careers in the manufacturing industry.

Additionally, Formosa's impact extends further. They contribute annually to the BRCC Foundation, helping to remove financial barriers for students and make education more accessible and affordable.

BRCC deeply appreciates Formosa for their enduring support and commitment to the college's mission. Their recognition with the Curt Eysink Excellence in Workforce Development Award serves as an inspiration to others, demonstrating the outcomes achievable through public-private partnerships.
