Baton Rouge Community College is now accepting applications for its workforce programs. Upcoming courses include Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Private Investigator Licensing Prep and Food Safety Certification.
SHRM is 36-hour preparation course for the SHRM-CP/SCP certification exam. It begins on Feb. 22 and runs through May 10. Class will meet Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at BRCC’s Frazier site, 555 Julia St., Baton Rouge. The cost of the course is $1195, which includes all materials.
The Private Investigator program – a 40-hour licensing prep course required to obtain a state PI license – will be offered in two sessions at BRCC’s Acadian site, 3250 N. Acadian Thruway E., Baton Rouge. Session one will run from March 3 through March 12, over the course of two weekends. The schedule is Fridays, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course will end with the licensing exam on March 12. The cost of the course is $350, which includes the state board study manual. The state exam fee is $50, and is a separate charge paid to the board. Session two will be held from June 2 to June 11, and will maintain all of the aforementioned details and guidelines.
Food Safety Certification is a one day, 8-hour course required by the Louisiana Dept. of Health to obtain a state license for food service. The next offering will be held at BRCC’s Acadian site on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. An additional course will be offered on Saturday, May 20. The cost of the course is $225, which includes the textbook and the exam, to be administered at the end of the class. Prospective students are encouraged to register online. Students are advised to visit room 228 in the workforce office on the Acadian site, prior to the class, to pick up the textbook to familiarize themselves with the material to be presented on class day.
