Transcript Evaluation

Students are encouraged to submit transcripts from each college/university previously attended.  Transcripts can be submitted electronically, through mail, or hand delivered in a sealed envelope from the student’s previous institution.

Baton Rouge Community College accepts credits from institutions accredited by one of the regional accrediting agencies/commissions at the time the credits were earned.   The initial evaluation of transfer work is conducted by the Registrar's Office to determine acceptance of credit.  The applicability of transfer credits to a specific degree program is determined by the academic dean of that degree program.

Some courses transferred into BRCC may not apply to a specific degree program. Students should refer questions about transferring courses into degree programs to the appropriate academic dean's office.

Once completed, the official evaluation of credits can be viewed online via LOLA.  The evaluation will list all courses that have transferred into BRCC.  The evaluation on LOLA denotes the BRCC equivalent course.  Courses listed with no BRCC course number may be accepted with the appropriate Dean approval.

For a quick reference of transfer equivalencies within the State of Louisiana, please consult the Board of Regent’s Articulation Matrices for General Education, Business, and Natural/Biological Sciences courses.  For all other transfer courses, you may use the link here to check the BRCC course equivalency.

Transcript Evaluation Timeline

How long does it take for my official college transcript to be evaluated?
Our department evaluates hundreds of transcripts each month. Evaluations are completed in the order they are received. Evaluations are not processed until all official transcripts are received. During peak times transcript evaluations may take longer to complete. Please be patient. According to BRCC policy, transcript evaluations should occur within the student’s first semester of attendance. This may take up to 16 weeks.
