Baton Rouge Community College’s Workforce Solutions Division will host the “Get Ready to Skill Up” Summit for job seekers interested in learning about a variety of short-term training programs offered by the college, along with scholarship opportunities that are available for eligible individuals on Tuesday, June 15, 5 to 8 p.m. at the BRCC Acadian Campus, 3250 N. Acadian Thruway E., Baton Rouge.

Those in attendance will have an opportunity to observe workforce training opportunities up close and personal, participating in hands-on and virtual demonstrations. Individuals will also tour the college’s state-of-the-art workforce labs, engage with BRCC skills experts and industry leaders about career pathways, and meet graduates from BRCC’s workforce programs who are currently working in the industry

“We are looking forward to engaging with prospective students and introducing them to all the possibilities they have before them through the BRCC Workforce Solutions Division,” said Dr. Girard Melancon, BRCC vice chancellor for workforce solutions. “We have numerous short-term training programs that can assist individuals in gaining new skills or updating their existing skills quickly, helping them become employable for available, high-demand jobs.”

Some of the short-term training programs that will be featured during the Get Ready to Skill Up Summit, include: medical billing and coding, certified clinical medical assistant, pharmacy technician, pipefitting level 1, welding, painting and refinishing collision repair, HVAC, certified diesel engines, plus much more.
