Dr. Eboni Saurage

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) announced the appointment of Dr. Eboni Saurage as the new Dean of the Division of Nursing and Allied Health. Dr. Saurage, a surgical technology educator with over 15 years of experience, steps into her new role with an impressive record in both academic and clinical settings.

“Dr. Saurage's dedication to healthcare education, coupled with her extensive background in surgical technology, makes her an ideal leader for our Nursing and Allied Health programs,” said BRCC Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith. “Her vision for the future of healthcare education aligns perfectly with BRCC's commitment to excellence. We are excited to have her expertise guiding this division as we continue to shape the future of healthcare throughout the Capital Region.”

Dr. Saurage holds undergraduate degrees in Surgical Technology and Health Science from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, along with a master’s degree in Academic Administration and a Doctorate of Education in Healthcare Education from Nebraska Methodist College. Her tenure at BRCC includes roles as an assistant professor and director of the surgical technology and sterile processing technician programs.

“My journey from first-generation college student to experienced healthcare educator has shaped my mission to pave pathways, inspire futures, and ignite purpose in the lives of others,” said Dr. Saurage. “I am both excited and humbled to collaborate with an amazing team at BRCC. Together we will bridge gaps between the workforce and academics, creating clear pathways for both traditional and non-traditional learners to reach their goals as future healthcare leaders dedicated to serving the Baton Rouge community.”

Dr. Saurage has a strong background in both academics as well as service. She was recognized as an outstanding professional educator with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System’s President's Faculty Fellowship Award. She also holds the Fellow of the Association of Surgical Technologists (FAST) designation which is awarded to those individuals who have upheld the highest professional standards and traditions of the surgical technology profession, and whose professional activity has been devoted to the advancement of the profession toward improving the quality of surgical patient care.

She serves her profession as a Board member for the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, President of the Louisiana State Assembly of the Association of Surgical Technologists, and Vice-Chair of the United States Chapter of The Operating Room Global (TORG). Her passion for advancing safe patient care through fundamental and continuing education has driven her to also serve on numerous regional, state, and national committees for surgical technology and education. 

As Dean, Dr. Saurage will oversee an important segment of BRCC's academic offerings. The Nursing area includes both the Nursing RN and Nursing LPN programs, which are preparing the next generation of nurses. The Allied Health area includes a broad spectrum of healthcare programs, including Sonography, Veterinary Technology, Paramedic, Surgical Technology, Pharmacy Technician, and Medical Assistant programs. 

The BRCC Associate of Science in Nursing Program proudly holds accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and approval by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, reflecting the high standards of educational excellence that Dr. Saurage will continue to uphold and advance.
