Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) celebrated the grand opening of two campus additions, “The Closet” and a brand-new game room. The Closet is a new, exciting resource designed to provide students with professional attire at no cost, ensuring every student has the opportunity to make an excellent first impression in job interviews and professional settings.

Recognizing that proper attire can be a barrier and significant hurdle for students as they venture into the job market, The Closet will be stocked with a selection of business and business-casual clothing that can empower students with confidence as they prepare to enter the workforce.

“The launch of The Closet at BRCC is about removing barriers and opening doors of opportunity for our students,” said BRCC Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith. “We are committed to equipping them with academic knowledge and skills, along with the confidence to step into interviews and professional settings, fully prepared.”

Additionally, the college opened a new game room today, as it continues its focus on engaging students and enriching the overall campus and student life experience at the college.

Community support will be critical in ensuring the success of The Closet. BRCC invites individuals from the community who are interested in supporting The Closet to contribute by donating new or gently used, clean business or business casual attire. The donations will be used to sustain The Closet and ensure a continued supply of appropriate attire for BRCC students.

Donations can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at The Closet,  located in the Bienvenue Student Center on the BRCC Mid City Campus, 201 Community College Dr. For more information about The Closet and how to contribute, please contact BRCC Director of Student Life Terri Dawson at dawsont2@mybrcc.edu or 225-216-8535.
