Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

Apply for Admissions to Baton Rouge Community College You can apply online by going to www.mybrcc.edu and selecting Apply Online. You must be be fully admitted in a degree seeking program before the Office of Student Financial Aid can determine your eligibility and financial aid award package.

Create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID at https://studentaid.gov/help/create-fsa-id - An FSA ID gives you access to Federal Student Aid's online systems and can serve as your legal signature. If you are a dependent student, your parent(s) should also create a FSA ID.

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

Complete the entire application (enter "o" if not applicable).

Enter BRCC's Title IV school code 037303 in "School Selection". 

Sign the application with your FSA ID (and parent(s), if dependent).

Submit application.

Once your application has been processed,  you will receive an email from FAFSA.              

*Please allow 5-7 business days after receipt of email for BRCC to receive your application.

Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) - If your SAR is rejected, requires correction, or you are selected for a process called verification,  you should read and take the appropriate action.

Respond Immediately to Requests for information from the Financial Aid Office- Once our office receives your FAFSA, you will be notified by email if additional documentation is needed. It is important that you turn in the required documentation as soon as possible to ensure you receive the most beneficial aid package available.

Complete your BRCC Admissions File - Once our office receives your admissions application, you will be notified by email if additional documentation is needed. Verification - If your FAFSA application is selected for verification by the U.S Department of Education, you will receive an email from VGCS@inceptia.org, or postcard from Inceptia, containing Baton Rouge Community College’s unique website link to start the verification process.

Federal Aid Eligibility Determined and Awards Processed - When your file is complete, your eligibility will be determined, and you will be awarded the federal aid for which you are eligible. NOTE: Not all awards may be visible on your account at this time. This may include institutional, state, and private scholarships. They will be added at a later date. 

Student Loans - Federal students loans will be awarded to all eligible students. Students who accept a student loan will be required to complete an Entrance Counseling Session and an electronic Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling.

Review Award and Terms and Conditions - Once you have been processed for financial aid, you will receive an email to view your award in Self-Service in LOLA and to review the Undergraduate Award Information.
