This course introduces concrete construction, safety, preparing for placement, foundations and slabs on grade, and framework. Course content includes NCCER curriculum and testing.

CSST - Safety
Topics covered in this course include: hazard communication, work zone safety, personal protective equipment, fall protection, trenching safety, job safety analysis and task safety analysis, safety meetings, work permit policies, risk analysis and assessment. Those who complete the course and pass all examinations receive certification as a construction site safety technician through the National Center for Construction Education. We offer this CSST course in an online/hybrid format where you participate in Zoom classes on Saturdays, with lecture, discussion, and demonstration. Then you read through presentations and study guides to complete some simple assignments and quizzes online on your own, all to prepare for NCCER’s official online tests that you take on weekdays or weeknights in any of our scheduled NCCER testing sessions. This course is eight-weeks long, four Saturdays in each part. You can join this program at the beginning of either Part-1 or Part-2. Recordings of each Saturday lesson are available for you in case you can’t make these sessions. So this course is flexible with your schedule.

Introduction to Machining Manufacturing

This course is designed to identify types and uses of blueprints, identifying lines, and interpreting views, dimensions and tolerances. The use of layout tools, precision measuring tools, applied shop math, and hand tools is also covered. Students will learn how to utilize these tools to layout and fabricate common manufactured parts correctly and proficiently. Students will also learn to identify types of grinders and accessories, perform set-up operations, perform wheel dressing and maintenance, learn proper uses of surface grinders and tool grinders, and perform precision grinding operations.

NCCER Level 1 CORE Course Information:
Every NCCER Level 1 craft course begins with NCCER’s CORE curriculum which is a prerequisite to all other craft courses. The modules covered in CORE include topics such as basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, blueprint reading, basic rigging, basic communication skills and basic employability skills. Completing the CORE curriculum gives the trainee the basic skills needed to continue education in any craft area. Participants will receive an NCCER transcript, certificate and an initial wallet card upon completion of CORE and any other full level of a craft. The participant will also be entered into NCCER’s online Automated National Registry (ANR). These industry credentials allow participants to provide easy verification of training for current or potential employers.
NCCER Electrical Level 1

Electricians install electrical systems in structures; they install wiring and other electrical components, such as circuit breaker panels, switches, and light fixtures, and they follow blueprints, the National Electrical Code® and state and local codes.  NCCER Electrical Level 1 course include topics such as electrical safety; electrical circuits; device boxes; hand bending; conductors and cables; basic electrical drawings; and introduction to the National Electrical Code®.

NCCER Electrical Level 2 & 3

This course includes both lecture and hands-on training and serves as the second of four levels in a series of courses. Students will learn topics such as motors; electric lighting; conduit bending; pull and junction boxes; conductor installations; cable tray layout; conductor terminations and splices; grounding and bonding; circuit breakers and fuses; and control systems.

NCCER Heavy Equipment Operator
This course begins NCCER’s CORE curriculum which is a prerequisite to all other craft courses. The modules covered in CORE include topics such as basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, blueprint reading, basic rigging, basic communication skills and basic employability skills. Completing the CORE curriculum gives the trainee the basic skills needed to continue education in any craft area. Students will receive 350 clock hours of training in NCCER’s Heavy Equipment Operator Level 1 curriculum plus three modules from Level 3 including Backhoes, Excavators, and Bulldozers in addition to OSHA standards. Training will be comprised of heavy equipment safety, identification of heavy equipment, introduction to earthmoving, dozers, backhoes, and excavators. Equipment types included in this program are bulldozer, backhoe loader, skid steer loader, and mini-excavator. Equipment is subject to change. Students will receive a certificate of completion from the NCCER’s National Registry. Prerequisites: Student must be at least 17 years old.

NCCER Pipefitting
Pipefitters install and repair both high- and low-pressure pipe systems used in manufacturing, in the generation of electricity, and in the heating and cooling of buildings. Every NCCER Level 1 craft course begins with NCCER’s CORE curriculum which is a prerequisite to all other craft courses. The modules covered in CORE include topics such as basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, blueprint reading, basic rigging, basic communication skills and basic employability skills. Nondestructive Testing (NDT)

Nondestructive testing (NDT) is the process of inspecting, testing, or evaluating materials, components or assemblies for discontinuities, or differences in characteristics without destroying the serviceability of the part or system. The NDT course at BRCC involves the use of visual inspection, liquid penetrant inspection, magnetic particle inspection, ultrasonic inspections and radiography inspection.

Welding (AWS)

Trainees will learn fundamental skills sets needed to show mastery in AWS welding applications. Trainees will be exposed to stick welding, mig and tig based on their ability level. Those who show mastery in required skill sets will be referred to weld testing labs for AWS certifications. Classes will primarily hands-on lab training with some classroom instruction.
