Community members and prospective students invited for fall festivities

Baton Rouge Community College will host its annual Fall Fest on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the lawn by the Bienvenue Student Center at the Mid City campus,201 Community College Drive. This annual event is open to the BRCC community and prospective students and members of the public interested in learning more about college. It’s an event set aside to bring the entire community together for a time of information sharing with prospective students, live music, food, and fun.

This year’s musical guest will be Grammy-award winning Rebirth Brass Band who has a unique style of music that continues to remain popular throughout Louisiana for more than 35 years. Their trademark sound is a fusion of New Orleans brass band, jazz, funk soul and R&B. Rebirth Brass Band has collaborated with a variety of artists such as Quincy Jones, Grateful Dead, James Brown, Big, Freedia, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Juvenile, and a host of others. The band still maintains a busy tour schedule playing in cities throughout the nation.

“We’re inviting all prospective BRCC students to come out to the event and speak with our recruitment and outreach team,” said BRCC Dean of Students, Dr. Donavan Johnson. “It’s an excellent opportunity for prospective students to get a feel for the BRCC community and learn more about the college and our complete offerings. Also, we will have special giveaways for those students who apply at our Fall Fest.”

Along with the live music, there will be free food and giveaways. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs. For additional information, contact the BRCC Office of Student Life at (225) 216-8535 or
