BRCC lands national awards for integrated marketing campaign and hype video

Baton Rouge Community College is the recipient of two national awards from the 35th Annual Educational Advertising Awards, sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report. The annual competition is the largest of its kind in the country. BRCC took prizes in the Integrated Marketing Campaign category for its “Tomorrow Begins Here” campaign, and in the Special Video campaign for its fun and exciting “We’re Ready” hype video, featuring faculty, staff, and Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith.

The “Tomorrow Begins Here” campaign was used for the fall 2019 and spring 2020 registration periods and included outdoor advertising/billboards, radio spots, pole banners, social media and digital advertising.

Winners were chosen from 2,350 entries received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities, and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries. Winners are categorized by enrollment rather than school type. There were fewer than 20 community colleges awarded overall.

Moreover, we are excited that a video as fun as “We’re Ready” has been recognized by a national committee of advertising professionals. We are grateful to our advertising partner, Feigley Communications, who we always enjoy working with to help us present all that our amazing college has to offer.”

A total of 667 awards were given across recognition levels – Best in Show, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. BRCC received two bronze awards. Judges for the Educational Advertising Awards consisted of a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals, and the editorial board of Higher Educational Marketing Report.

BRCC worked with Feigley Communications to produce both campaigns. The BRCC Marketing and Public Relations Department is led by Kizzy Payton, executive director for marketing and public relations and Leslie D. Rose, assistant director for marketing and public relations.
