Baton Rouge Community College is set to welcome jet race car driver Elaine Larsen and her Blazing Trails Tour on Thursday, Feb. 18 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at its Ardendale Site, 2115 Lobdell Ave. Larsen’s Blazing Trails Tour is focused on inspiring the next generation of Trail Blazers as she seeks to ensure that students have an opportunity to find a career path that interests them, such as engineering, business, marketing, health, arts, fabrication, and the obvious – the automotive profession. To maintain COVID-19 safety protocols, the number of participants at the event will be limited and attendees must register in advance have a ticket. To register, please CLICK HERE. During the event, all COVID-19 safety protocols will be enforced. Attendees MUST properly wear a face covering (over nose and mouth) and social distance.
Blazing Trails supports over 10,000 students annually through educational outreach.
During the event, attendees will meet Larsen, Big D Hill, and the entire Larsen Motorsports Team, where she will display two jet cars, discuss career options and scholarship opportunities for paint and collision classes through the BRCC Workforce Solutions Division.
Baton Rouge Community College currently has a stellar automotive program, which focuses on automotive technology, diesel heavy truck technology, and collision repair. The College offers automotive classes and certifications through both its credit and Workforce classes.
ABOUT ELAINE LARSEN
With over 20 years of drag racing experience, Elaine Larsen has found her home behind the wheel of her jet dragsters. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Chris. With their son Andrew and dog Nitro, Elaine lives her life all out. Her motto is Live Fast and Play Hard. She definitely practices what she preaches. Never one to back down from a challenge, Elaine faces every new obstacle head on. Not coming from a racing background, Elaine headed into uncharted territory and never looked back. She never let being a female in a male dominated world affect her in anyway. "Drag Racing is the equalizer, on any given day. I have the same chance as anyone to win, it just has to be my day," says Elaine. Being a strong positive female role model is a job Elaine takes very seriously, not only to the little girls, but to all ladies out there to never give up and always give 100%. Elaine is 53 and proud of where she is in her life. Every night before she goes to bed she knows that she had the Guts to go for the Glory!
