Hall of Fame Coach Roger CadorThe Baton Rouge Community College Athletics Department and Baseball Program will honor National Baseball Hall-of-Fame Coach Roger Cador during its 3 p.m. game Saturday, April 1, against conference rival Delgado Community College at Pete Goldsby Field, 1502 Foss St., Baton Rouge. The eventful day will be declared Roger Cador Day at BRCCCador will have the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch before the start of the game and will be available afterward for photos and autographs. The Baton Rouge community is invited to attend the game to celebrate and honor Coach Cador. Tickets can be purchased on the BRCC Athletics website at brccathletics.com.

“Coach Cador has done so much for athletics, baseball, and developing student athletes in our community,” said BRCC Director of Athletics Brock Kantrow. “Several of our student athletes at BRCC have gone on to play baseball under coach Cador, and it’s the perfect opportunity to pay homage to this baseball legend in our backyard.” 

Cador was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame during a February ceremony in Omaha, Nebraska. During his 33 seasons as head baseball coach at Southern University, he finished his career with an overall record of 913-597-1 while winning 14 SWAC Championships, 13 SWAC Coach of the Year Awards, and 11 NCAA tournament appearances. He also coached 35 All-Americans and had 62 players drafted to play Major League Baseball. Several players from BRCC have continued their collegiate careers under Cador at Southern University. Recently, Cador took time out of his schedule to visit the BRCC softball team and discussed the importance of being a good teammate and how to be a successful player.
