Angie ThomasBaton Rouge Community College will host a virtual Women’s History month celebration with a keynote address delivered by Angie Thomas, New York Times Best-Selling Author of The Hate U Give. Thomas was originally slated to speak at BRCC’s Women’s History Month celebration last year, but due to COVID-19, the in-person event was cancelled as the college transitioned to online and remote operations. 

Angie Thomas was born, raised, and still lives in Jackson, Mississippi. A former teen rapper, she holds a BFA in creative writing from Belhaven University. Her award-winning, acclaimed debut novel, The Hate U Give, is a #1 New York Times best seller and major motion picture from Fox 2000, starring Amandla Stenberg and directed by George Tillman, Jr.
