Message for Students

Start of classes delayed until Jan. 18

Dear BRCC Students,

Baton Rouge Community College is delaying the beginning of classes by one week.  Classes will now begin on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 (January 17th is the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday).  Delaying the start date of classes by one week also shifts the end date of classes by one week and results in subsequent shifts in parts-of-term classes. The start and end date for all of your classes is available in your LoLA account. An updated academic calendar is attached to this communication, and is on the BRCC website. The Spring 2022 Disbursement Schedule and Book Advance Periods have been updated as well.

Due to the delay of the start of the semester, our Spring Commencement will now be held on Friday, May 20. The Mardi Gras holiday and Spring Break dates will remain the same. The Mardi Gras holiday will be observed Monday, February 28 and Tuesday, March 1. Spring Break will be observed Saturday, April 16 through Sunday, April 24.

Our Student Affairs and Enrollment teams are available to assist you as we prepare for the start of the Spring semester. We will continue to offer various modes of instruction at our educational sites, including in-person, online and hybrid classes. We encourage you to use the additional time before classes begin to finalize your schedule, meet with academic and financial aid counselors, or to set up a payment plan. The college is closed through Jan. 2 for Winter Break, but we are always open online at mybrcc.edu, and you can check your account status. We will resume normal business operations on Monday, January 3, and you can visit the Bienvenue Student Center to meet with staff.

I hope that you had a wonderful holiday break, and I look forward to seeing you back on campus again in 2022!

Sincerely,
Willie E. Smith, Sr., Ed.D.
