Purpose

Criteria

 

Students are eligible if they have completed at least ONE semester (Summer 2020 – Spring 2021) and meet award criteria.

STUDENT LIFE AWARDS

(SGA/Student Organizations)

Spirit of Excellence Award

(Outstanding Student Leader of the Year)

Nominated by any Student, Faculty or Staff

To recognize an outstanding student for their overall contribution to the college and student community.

• Demonstrated exceptional character, integrity, commitment and perseverance in achieving his or her goals, and by doing so, has been a positive role model for other students.

• Any student with active participation and leadership in ONE of the following:

     • membership on a college committee

     • participation in SGA

     • active participation in a student club or   

         organization

     • leadership or service in the classroom

 

Service to the Community

Nominated by Faculty or Staff

To recognize an outstanding student for their commitment to service at BRCC and the surrounding community. All nominees who have completed more than 20 service hours.

Any student with active participation and leadership in ONE of the following:

• membership on a college committee

• active participation in a student club or organization

• leadership or service in the classroom

• community service through a formal or informal internship or community placement

• community service through a charitable organization or local nonprofit

 

Student Organization of the Year

Nominated by any Student

To recognize a student club or organization for their outstanding involvement and dedication to campus life and the community.

• Is an officially recognized student-led organization by the Office of Student Life and actively involves students in its programs and activities

• Seeks out opportunities to collaborate with other SGA, student organizations, college departments and divisions

• Supports the leadership development of students at BRCC

• Plans opportunities for campus outreach and engagement

 

 

DIVISIONAL AWARDS

(Business; Liberal Arts; Nursing & Allied Health; STEM; Technical Education; Advancement/Athletics)

BRCC Who’s Who Award

Nominated by Faculty

To recognize a student for their outstanding academic achievements. One award given to a student from each Academic Division.

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater

• Student must be on track to complete or have completed a certificate or degree Summer 2020 – Fall 2021

• Student must have actively participated in either a distinguished instructional project or provided notable instances of leadership in the classroom setting

 

BRCC Emerging Leader Award

Nominated by Faculty or Staff

To recognize a student who have demonstrated significant progress toward achieving their degree or certification and leadership potential through campus and community involvement

• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater

• Student must have completed at least half of the hours required in their degree program

• Student must have actively participated in either a student club or community project.

 

BRCC Transformation Award

Nominated by Faculty or Staff

To recognize a student who have overcome adversity and still achieved success at BRCC.

Any student who, despite barriers:

• Maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.0

• Shows growth and development

• Are progressing toward goal at BRCC

 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL AWARDS

(Faculty/Staff)

Faculty Member of the Year

Nominated by any Student

To recognize an outstanding faculty that have encouraged and supported the success of BRCC students and are committed to excellence in teaching.

Any full or part time BRCC faculty member.

 

Advocate of the Year

Nominated by any Student

To recognize an outstanding support staff that have encouraged and supported the success of BRCC students.

Any full or part time BRCC staff member.

 

Exemplary Leadership Award

Nominated by any Student, Faculty or Staff

 

To recognize an outstanding faculty/staff that have created opportunities/initiatives or the ability to advance academic and administrative leadership

Any full or part time BRCC faculty/staff member who:

• Has been employed at the college for at least 2 full academic years.
