Academic Learning Center

The Academic Learning Center, or ALC, provides all BRCC students with a safe and supportive environment for learning that promotes peer interaction through conversation and collaboration.  The center offers a variety of resources designed to help students achieve their educational goals. The Center offers free academic support including individual consultation, writing assistance, peer tutoring, workshops, and online resources.

Free Tutoring + Free Writing Assistance
Take advantage of drop-in peer tutoring for math, science, and foreign languages. Check the schedule for tutors and hours. Utilize drop-in and appointment-based writing assistance for all academic subjects at any stage of the writing process. Or access SMARTHINKING online tutoring (24/7) via Canvas.

Peer Learning Assistance
Schedule an appointment to meet with a Peer Learning Assistant to discuss note-taking, time-management, and study strategies for classes across all academic subjects.

Participate in hands-on workshops on various math, writing, and study skills topics.

ESL Support
Participate in our weekly Conversation Café for practice through guided, informal conversation.

Study Rooms
Utilize ALC study rooms for group study sessions with friends or classmates.

Consultation and Referrals
Meet with professional staff to address individual needs. Explore learning preferences and discuss study strategies.

Computer Lab
A small computer lab with ten computers for academic purposes only.
