Aviation Maintenance Technician - AAS

Aviation Maintenance Technician - Associate of Applied Science Degree

The Associate of Applied Science degree combines the technical training of the full Airframe and Powerplant courses with the general education requirements of the college to award a degree. Graduates of this program enter the workforce with not only a license, but a degree that is becoming more important for those seeking supervisory positions. Students in the AAS program receive training in the subjects within the Airframe and Powerplant CTS's and have the options of taking the general education courses during the technical training and finishing in 5 semesters, or they can be taken all together in a separate semester and will take 6 semesters to complete.

A full-time commitment is required for students to complete the intensive 19 month program. Classes start each fall semester and generally run Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. This is a competitive enrollment program with limited seating. Application procedures and timelines are published on the Aviation Maintenance main page.

This Certificate signifies that the student has completed the 1,900 hours (400 General, 750 Powerplant, and 750 Airframe hours) required by Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician Schools. This certificate provides eligibility to take the FAA General, Powerplant and Airframe written exams, as well as the oral and practical exam leading to an FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
