Science Department

Baton Rouge Community College’s Science Department is committed to helping students achieve excellence in the sciences.

The science department offers the following degrees:

• Associate of Science in General Science (ASGS)
• Associate of Science/Louisiana Transfer (AS/LT) with concentrations in biological and physical science.

Both degrees provide the scientific coursework, as well as General Education courses, for transfer to a four-year institution or employment in scientific fields.

The Associate of Science General Science Degree provides a well-rounded, broad program of courses for a variety of scientific disciplines and careers.

The Associate of Science/Louisiana Transfer Degree provides students with the foundational knowledge essential to the pursuit of a four-year degree in either the biological or physical sciences. Completion of a Louisiana Transfer degree guarantees that the student has met, in full, all lower division general education requirements for all receiving Louisiana public universities. Graduates who transfer with a Louisiana Transfer degree will be assigned junior status at the receiving institution. Note that course and GPA requirements for specific majors, departments, and schools must be met independently and should be verified by the student.
