BRCC WORK READY U (WRU)
If you are an adult at least 18 years old and have not graduated from high school, BRCC is ready to help you earn your high school equivalency (HSE) credential . We offer basic literacy classes and access to training opportunities while improving your literacy skills. Currently, we offer remote live classes (via Zoom) during the day and in the evening. We also offer asynchronous online classes with no live meetings. We enroll students throughout the year. To get started complete our online application form. This program is free to participants.
BRCC WRU is expanding opportunities by offering Integrated Career Pathways, a unique way for you to earn your HSE while also earning college credit towards receiving your academic credential.
BRCC is currently offering pathways in the following areas:
- Skilled Crafts (NCCER) (welding/electrical)
- Information Technology
- Transportation/Automotive Technology
JOBS FOR AMERICA'S GRADUATES
If you are between the ages of 16 and 21 and have not graduated from high school, the Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) program may be right for you. The JAG program focuses on job readiness, leadership development, post-graduate assistance, and mentorship. Enrolling in the JAG program also allows you to work towards earning your high school equivalency (HSE). The enrollment periods are ongoing. If you are interested in the JAG program, complete the WRU online application form and indicate your interest in JAG. This program is free to participants.
5 FOR 6 SCHOLARSHIPS
Students involved in our Work Ready U (WRU) program may also be eligible for the "5 for Six" scholarship program. The scholarship pays for students to attend up to two college classes a semester while enrolled in the WRU program. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE AQUISITION
BRCC offers the opportunity to learn to speak English for non-native speakers through our community partnership with Adult Literacy Advocates of Greater Baton Rouge. Students looking for assistance with English as a Second Language (ESL) or English Language Acquisition (ELA) should contact Mr. Gary Robertson at 225.383.1090.
