The mission of the Construction Management Program at BRCC is to identify and meet industry workforce needs through an innovative and dynamic curriculum. Specifically:
- Maintain national accreditation and be committed to continuous program improvement
- Provide a curriculum that prepares students with the knowledge and skills of construction science and management for entry level positions
- Provide courses that develop problem solving skills and communication for effective management of construction projects
- Partner with industry to enhance curriculum and career opportunities
- Prepare students for professional growth and leadership through honesty, integrity, and ethical practices
The Construction Management program is open to all students and can be completed in as few as four semesters. Students interested in enrolling in the Construction Management program are encouraged to review enrollment requirements for Baton Rouge Community College as well as program requirements which are available online. It is recommended that students seek advising assistance to assure proper sequencing of class scheduling. Students must earn a minimum of ‘C’ or better in all courses to earn an AAS in Construction Management.
In a survey completed in Oct 2019, students with an Associate of Applied Science in Construction Management, had an average salary of $52,577.14. The following job titles have been reported by our graduates: Construction Foreman, Estimator, Superintendent, Project Manager, Purchasing Agent, Planner, Project Coordinator, Design Engineer, General Contractor, Real Estate Projects Coordinator, Quality Control Inspector, Safety and Project Engineer."

There were 40 students initially enrolled when the program started in 2009. Enrollment has steadily increased since then, rising to 242 in the Fall 2020 semester.

The program consists of 60 credit hours of course work which includes construction classes in materials and methods, print reading, estimating, planning and scheduling, project management, and safety. General education and business courses are also included in the curriculum which is designed to prepare students for the work force with a well-rounded, practical education for positions in the construction industry. We have received monetary gifts from the Contractor's Education Trust Fund (CETF), which have been used to enhance the program.
The Construction Management Advisory Council guides the program on workforce needs. Twelve council directors are active in local industry and serve three-year terms.
Our average class enrollment is 23 students in our construction management courses. Day and night classes are available.
