SGA stands for Student Government Association.
Students make up the entire membership of this organization.
If you are wondering who can join the SGA, the answer
is YOU! Every student enrolled at BRCC is a member
of the SGA; there are no eligibility requirements
to join. You decide how involved you will become with
the meetings, activities, and governmental issues.
In fact, being an active member of the SGA enables
you to take part in planning and implementing programs
and measures that will affect the entire student body
of BRCC.
Government is the most important part of the SGA,
this student-driven organization conducts and regulates
all campus-wide elections and referenda. The SGA's
members work closely with BRCC's administration and
faculty, the Legislative Branch of the State of Louisiana,
and leaders of other statewide student organizations
to establish policies effecting students enrolled
in higher education in the state. By attending meetings,
YOU gain firsthand knowledge of issues that will effect
your education.
Association with your peers on an extracurricular
level helps give you a well-rounded education. The
SGA is not always about business; members enjoy planning
fun activities for the student population of BRCC
as well as associating with administrators, lawmakers,
and civic leaders who make a difference at the community
college. As an active SGA member, YOU serve as an
ambassador, establishing relationships between BRCC
and its students as well as the community at large.
