Dr. Myrtle E. B. Dorsey
Chancellor

On behalf of the faculty, staff and students at Baton Rouge Community College I want to welcome you to our SACS website.  On June 28, 1995, Baton Rouge Community College was established as an open admission, two-year public comprehensive community college.  The college serves eight parishes in the surrounding Baton Rouge area.  The college received candidacy status in 2002 and full accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in 2004.  We are excited about our upcoming reaffirmation of our accreditation.

The college continues to grow in enrollment and staff.  We have a great faculty and they are dedicated to excellence in the classroom.  Our staff stay ready to support teaching and learning at the college.  We have expanded our program and course offerings as a direct response to business and workforce needs.  Our lifelong learning goals are dynamic and in response to the community we serve.  We have had an outstanding dual enrollment program with the East Baton Rouge Parish Schools, Zachary School District, and Iberville Parish Schools.

As we approach our tenth year anniversary, in 2008, we continue to reflect on goals, policies, and procedures that lead to world class status.  The college has a communication model that promotes inclusion of the stakeholders … at all levels faculty, staff, and students.  We will continue to grow and improve instruction and service for our service area.

Myrtle E. B. Dorsey, Ph.D.
Chancellor
