INVESTIGATION PROCEDURE

  1. Department receives initial complaint report.
  1. Investigation report is developed:
    1. Contact Complainant
    2. When was the item last seen or what happened
    3. Who was the last known person to have contact with the item, access to it, who was involved with the incident and/or who was involved.
    4. Who had access to the item, area or may have seen what happened

2.      Cards

3.      Codes

4.      Job Responsibilities

5.      Witnesses

6.      Check security cameras if appropriate

    1. What type object or complaint

1.      Serial number

2.      State Tag number

3.      Value of item

4.      Further description of item

5.      Injuries

  1. Check for other tips, previous reports, previous complaints and/or additional incidents or missing items.
    1.  Obtain written reports from witness or others who may have information pertaining to missing item or incident.  Obtain name if possible on report.
  1. Provide information to Supervisor and the Director of Human Resources.  The Director of Human Resources will provide information to the Chancellor.
  1. Determine with the Supervisor what action to be taken. 
  1. A written report from the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs will be sent to the Legislative Auditor and parish district attorney concerning any misappropriations of public funds and property.  Additional reports will be sent to Baton Rouge Police Department concerning any confirmed or investigated reports of violence that require additional action.  Recommendations may be made to the Baton Rouge Police Department as to needed follow up actions.
  1. Copies of the report are to go to the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance and the appropriate Vice Chancellor for the area in question.
