New Student Convocation FAQ’s

What is New Student Convocation?
New Student Convocation is your official welcome and induction into the BRCC community.  All new students (freshmen, first semester, and first-time transfer students) to the Baton Rouge Community College academic community are invited.  New Student Convocation marks the beginning of the students’ academic journey.

When and Where is New Student Convocation?
New Student Convocation will be held the Thursday, August 17, 2017 beginning at 10 a.m. in the Magnolia Performing Arts Theatre on BRCC's Mid City campus.

Is attendance mandatory?
All new freshmen, first semester and firs-time transfer students are required to attend.

When do classes begin for the fall 2017 semester?
Classes begins on Monday, August 21, 2017 for the fall 2017 semester.

What can you expect at New Student Convocation Ceremony?
The New Student Convocation Ceremony is an assembly of administrators, faculty, staff and students to officially welcome and induct new students (freshmen, first semester and first-time transfer students) into the Baton Rouge Community College community.

Bring yourself and a positive enthusiastic attitude.

Do I need to check-in with someone when I arrive?
Yes. Check-in will be available in the gallery of the Magnolia Theatre.

Where do I park?
Parking is available in various lots throughout the campus, except where there are reserved signs.  There is also a parking garage located on the north side of the Governors building.
