What is New Student Convocation?
New Student Convocation is your official welcome and induction into the BRCC community. All new students (freshmen, first semester and first semester transfer students) to the Baton Rouge Community College academic community are invited. New Student Convocation marks the beginning of the students’ academic journey, just as graduation marks the completion of a course of study or program at BRCC.
When and Where is New Student Convocation?
New Student Convocation will be held the Thursday, August 16, 2018 beginning at 10:00 am, in the Magnolia Performing Arts Theatre.
Is attendance mandatory?
All new freshmen, first semester and first semester transfer students are encouraged to attend.
When do classes begin for the fall 2018 semester?
Classes begins on Monday, August 20, 2018 for the fall 2018 semester.
What can you expect at New Student Convocation Ceremony?
The New Student Convocation Ceremony is an assembly of administrators, faculty, staff and students to officially welcome and induct new students (freshmen, first semester and first semester transfer students) into the Baton Rouge Community College community.
Is there a dress code for New Student Convocation?
Students should dress business casual, wear comfortable clothing to this ceremonial event. A BRCC New Student Convocation t-shirt and a BRCC Bear lapel pin will be provided to students on a first come - first served basis

Bring yourself and a positive enthusiastic attitude.
Who do I need to bring to New Student Convocation?
Your parent(s) or guardian are welcome but not required.

Yes. Check-in will available in the gallery outside the Magnolia Pavilion Theatre Pavilion.
Where do I park?
Parking is available on campus, except where there are reserved signs. Parking is also available in the parking garage located on the north side of the Governors building.
