The Work Ready U program at Baton Rouge Community College is gearing up to participate in WRUeLearn, a program utilizing online courses open to anyone working to obtain their HiSET, formerly the GED. Orientation sessions will be held on Oct. 13 (invitation only via application) and Oct. 15. Classes begin on Oct. 26. The deadline to apply to program is Oct. 15.
With the exception of orientation and testing sessions, the coursework is done completely online. Students will need a computer and internet access to participate. New classes in reading, writing, social studies, science, and math start every month. WRUeLearn also features two types of tests – the TABE test, which will help students measure their levels in English and Math and figure out which classes to take, and the official HiSET, which is what students must pass to earn a diploma.
Additionally, all online students will be paired with a coach who will check in weekly to help them succeed online and navigate everything WRUeLearn.
