Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) will honor our nation's veterans in commemoration
of Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in the Magnolia Theatre (Mid City Campus),
201 Community College Dr. Staff Sergeant Dawn Moreau, Louisiana National Guard recruiter,
will serve as the guest speaker and will deliver remarks on patriotism and military
Staff Sergeant Moreau was born in Madison, Wis. and enlisted in the United States Army in 1999. She completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, S.C. and Advanced Individual Training at FT. Leonard Wood, Mo. to be a truck driver.
Staff Sergeant Moreau has had an impressive career with the Army. During her career, she has served as a truck driver, a gunner, Military Police Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, instructor, plus a number of other positions. She also participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is currently serving as a recruiter for the Louisiana National Guard.
Staff Sergeant Moreau has been selected Instructor of the Cycle three times while assigned to the 515th Regional Training Institute, she won Recruiter Rookie of the Year in 2014, and runner up for Recruiter Chief 54 in 2015.
"BRCC is honored to show our respect for the brave men and women who serve our country," said Deborah Chatman, BRCC Veteran Affairs Counselor. "Observation of this day serves as a great opportunity to educate our students and community about the sacrifices that service members and their families make."
