The STEM Division and Faculty Senate at Baton Rouge Community College will host the Dr. Alan Elkins Science Lecture on Nov. 15 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Louisiana Board Room (room 108), Louisiana Building, Mid City Campus, 201 Community College Drive. The lecture will feature a talk by Dr. Jan Hondzinski titled “Actual and potential non-medical “treatments” for Parkinson’s Disease: Avoiding the nasty side effects.” The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Hondzinski is an Associate professor and Motor Behavior Area Coordinator in the Department of Kinesiology at Louisiana State University (LSU). She has over 10 years of experience conducting research involving people with Parkinson’s disease. Her research area seeks to find non-medical interventions that improve the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s disease.
The Dr. Alan Elkins Science Lecture is named in honor of retired BRCC professor, Dr. Clarence Alan Elkins, who passed away in July. He served two terms as BRCC’s Faculty Senate President.
