Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Barlow, Ph.D. as Interim Executive Director of Enrollment Management and Student Services.
Dr. Barlow most recently served as the Department Chair of the English and Humanities Department, a position she began in 2014. In that role, she served a department of full-time and adjunct faculty in multiple disciplines. She began her career at BRCC in 2010 as a faculty member in the English and Humanities Department. As a member of the faculty, Dr. Barlow chaired the Faculty Senate Assessment Committee and worked on the General Education Assessment Committee. In those roles, she was able to research and implement a campus-wide process for academic program review which resulted in the successful review of 22 programs.
As Interim Executive Director of Enrollment Management and Student Services, Dr. Barlow’s roles include the development of a student-centered student services department that is innovative and focused on customer service. She will oversee Student Affairs functions including Enrollment Services, Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, Student Services, Student Life, and Veterans Services. Dr. Barlow will also research, coordinate, and maintain appropriate services, best practices, technology, budgets, staffing needs, and more as it relates to student driven programming, functions, and enrollment.
Throughout her time at BRCC, Dr. Barlow has participated in and/or developed various campus activities including Division/Department Advising "Social" Events, Academic Program Review (APR), SACSCOC Compliance Certification, the New Student Orientation Pilot, and the "Get Reoriented" advising event.
Dr. Barlow holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts degree in Literature from the University of Toledo in Ohio. In 2004, she moved to Louisiana to pursue doctoral studies, earning her Ph.D. in English at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She lives in Lafayette with her husband and son.
She assumed her role as Interim Executive Director of Enrollment Management and Student Services at BRCC on April 2.
