Baton Rouge Community College Jackson, 3337 Highway 10 in Jackson, will honor veterans and celebrate student success at an open house to be held Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents from nearby Louisiana War Veterans Home will be the special invited guests. Louisiana State Rep. Kenny Havard will serve as the guest speaker. Attendees will be served a jambalaya lunch prepared by Robbie Jackson, Mayor of Slaughter.
There will be blood pressure screenings and health care information provided by BRCC Jackson healthcare department. The welding department will display examples of student welding coupons, welding projects, and demonstrate stick, mig, and tig welding techniques and plasma arc cutting. For visitors interested in trying their hand at welding, a virtual welding simulator will be onsite. Registration is also open for upcoming spring sessions at BRCC and will remain open through Jan. 8, 2018.
