BRCC partners with EBR Schools to present in-depth campus tour and information sessions
Baton Rouge Community College will host 300 East Baton Rouge high school juniors and seniors on its Mid City campus during the inaugural Imagine What You Can Do @ BRCC Day on Oct. 12. The event title is based on BRCC's tagline and seeks to encourage students to envision their college careers and all of the things that go along with it. Students from Scotlandville, Glen Oaks, Woodlawn and EBR Virtual high schools are slated to attend the event, which will focus on STEM, Nursing and Allied Health studies. Students will also receive a campus tour and information about Transfer Degree Programs, Financial Aid and Admissions.
The day is set to begin at 9 a.m. when students will be greeted by BRCC Chancellor Dr. Larissa Littleton-Steib and representatives from East Baton Rouge Schools. They will learn about Enrollment Services and Student Life at BRCC through program directors and a student testimonial. Following the presentations, they will rotate through 13 breakout sessions. The sessions will address studies and careers in Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Environment, Forensics, Veterinary Technician, Surgical Technician, Medical Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Registered and Practical Nursing, Sonography, and the correlation between Medical and STEM. Lunch will be served to students at noon as they board buses back to their respective schools.
"We look forward to greeting the visiting students and telling them about the great programs and student life at BRCC," said BRCC Chancellor Dr. Larissa Littleton-Steib. "While BRCC offers more than 70 degrees, certificates and training options, along with transfer credits in many fields of study, we chose to focus on STEM and Nursing and Allied Health because of the rapid growth and industry demand. We are happy to partner with East Baton Rouge Schools to present this in-depth tour of our Mid City campus."
The Enrollment Services Dept. at BRCC hosts campus tours year-round for individuals and large groups throughout BRCC's eight locations. Imagine What You Can Do @ BRCC Day builds upon this already existing offering by adding breakout sessions and opportunity for visiting students to receive more information.
