The Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) Theatre will present a performance of Randy
Noojin's original one-person play, Hard Travelin' with Woody. This critically acclaimed, multi-media production, will feature stories and songs
of America's iconic folksinger, saint-of-the-workingman and poet-of-the-people, Woodrow
Wilson "Woody" Guthrie.
"Woody" is best known as an American singer-songwriter and folk musician, whose musical
legacy includes hundreds of political, traditional and children's songs, ballads and
improvised works. He frequently performed with the slogan This Machine Kills Fascists
displayed on his guitar. His best-known song is "This Land Is Your Land". Songwriters
such as Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger, Joe Strummer and Tom
Paxton have acknowledged their debt to Guthrie as an influence.
The Huffington Post: “Noojin captures the spirit of Woody, getting even an uptight New York crowd singing along. This is solid, entertaining work that should travel far and wide in these hard times, just like Guthrie himself.”
