The Business Department at Baton Rouge Community College has received a rare non-conditional reaffirmation of accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) through 2029.

According to the accreditation document, it is extremely rare that a school receives accreditation without conditions or notes given ACBSP's Core Value of Continuous Improvement and Organizational Learning, that business schools and programs should pursue regular cycles of planning, execution, and evaluation of every process and system.

“I could not be more proud of the work of our Business department’s faculty and staff. This non-conditional reaffirmation of accreditation is proof of our daily commitment to our students,” said BRCC Chancellor Dr. Larissa Littleton-Steib. “As BRCC continues its work in world class education, this accreditation proves to be another step in the direction of educational excellence.”

ACBSP’s Board of Commissioners also acknowledged BRCC’s Long Night against Procrastination, a program of the Digital Learning and Academic Support Center as a best practice. The event is held right before midterms and finals to assist students in preparing for exams. The Board noted that the program exemplifies the College’s commitment to student learning and innovation, specifically in regards to the Business program for which the event was submitted for review to ACBSP.

“As a result of the reaffirmation, students and the community can be confident the education being provided in the Business Programs will prepare students for success whether they are transferring to a four year school or directly entering the workforce,” said Todd Dozier, Dean for Business, Social Sciences and History.
