More than 400 degrees to be conferred at BRCC’s 22nd Commencement Ceremony, May 17

Baton Rouge Community College will hold its 22nd Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m. in the Bonne Sante’ Health and Wellness Center on the Mid City Campus, 201 Community College Drive. More than 400 degrees will be conferred for students who completed their studies during spring 2019.


Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré will serve as the commencement speaker. Honoré is a native of Lakeland, Louisiana. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Infantry and awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Agriculture upon graduation from Southern University and A&M College in 1971; he also holds a Master of Arts in Human Resources from Troy State University. Lt. General Honoré holds a variety of honorary doctorate degrees, including an Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration from Southern University and A&M College, an Honorary Doctorate in Laws from Stillman College, Honorary Doctorates in Humane Letters from Stillman College, Virginia State University, Loyola University, and Meharry Medical College. He retired on February 29, 2008, following 37 years of active service with the United States Army. He continues to speak and consult nationally on Building a Culture of Preparedness.
