LPN - RN ENTRY TRACK

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Admission to the ASN program LPN to RN Entry Track is competitive. It is important to note that simply meeting the requirements for admission to the nursing program does not guarantee admission. Admission is based on the following criteria:

  • Completion of generic track admission criteria.
  • Completion of 7 credit hours of required prerequisite courses (below) with a grade of “C” or higher.

  • Graduate of an approved LPN Program.
  • Hold an unencumbered license as a practical nurse in the State of Louisiana.
  • Have at least 3000 hours in a direct patient care setting within the last two years. Documentation of this MUST BE submitted to the Department of Nursing.
  • In order to challenge a course during the spring semester, the applicant’s work validation form must be in the Department of Nursing by the published deadline.
  • Applicants must receive a passing score on both the Nursing Fundamentals and Adult Nursing I challenge examination.
  • Students selected for admission will enroll in NURS 212: Mental Health Nursing during the Summer semester. (If there are not sufficient number of students, NURS 212 will be offered in Fall Semester)
