Chancellor's Welcome Print E-mail

On behalf of our faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC)! We are delighted that you are interested in joining our community and look forward to helping you achieve your goals and dreams! As the leading two-year institution in the region, BRCC has an extensive array of services to assist you in the pursuit of your educational and career aspirations.

With BRCC’s recent merger with Capital Area Technical College, our college has experienced tremendous growth. We have expanded to 2 campuses and 7 sites throughout our 6 parish service area: East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Point Coupee, Iberville, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana.

We now offer over 50 associate degrees and certificates that range from traditional fields such as, computer science, pre-engineering, accounting, nursing, and liberal arts to emerging fields including: sonography, avionics, film making, veterinarian technology, paralegal, video game design, and construction management. Whether you intend to complete a program to transfer to a 4-year institution, to immediately enter the workforce, or to take courses for personal growth and enrichment, we are here to provide an exceptional educational opportunity and to support your success.

Our focus on continual program development ensures that we are providing students with a quality education that is both, current and responsive, to changes in technology and industry. For those seeking to broaden their skills and knowledge, we also offer ample training opportunities through continuing education and lifelong-learning.

BRCC’s commitment to students extends beyond the classroom experience. We believe that a well-rounded education includes social and community engagement, as well. At BRCC, students can enjoy a wide variety of activities, clubs, and organizations to meet a broad spectrum of interests. Because we take the “community” part of our name seriously, we have developed and continue to maintain a strong tradition of service learning and community programs designed to promote the value of social involvement. We strive to develop graduates who are well equipped to effectively face the challenges and opportunities of our diverse global society.

As we look ahead, BRCC is committed to meeting the education and workforce needs of our community. In response to an unprecedented economic expansion in the state of Louisiana, we are committed to a five-year strategy, “Imagine 2020: The Workforce of Tomorrow.” The six comprehensive goals in this bold plan commits the college to providing a solution for the demand for a skilled workforce in our 6 parish service area. By the year 2020, we plan to double the number of degrees and certificates awarded, double the annual earnings of our graduates, quadruple the number of students transferring to four year institutions, double the number of students we serve annually, and quadruple the number of our industry partnerships. I am confident that our college will meet this challenge.

Our story continues to be one of access and success, and we are excited that you have decided to let us play a part in your story. Regardless of your reasons for being here, we are delighted that you are. Our faculty and staff are committed to giving you the tools you need to soar through your educational journey. Thank you again for your decision to join us at BRCC. I look forward to seeing you on campus!
