BRCC Launches Vet Tech Program
Baton Rouge, LA –BRCC is now accepting applications for our new Veterinary Technology Program. The deadline to submit an application for the fall 2011 semester is Friday, April 15 at 5 p.m.
The Veterinary Technology (Vet Tech) Program at BRCC is a two-year, fulltime curriculum which will include lectures and laboratories, combined with clinical externships at veterinary centers of excellence throughout the region.
Upon graduation, students will receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology, and will be eligible to sit for the National Veterinary Technician Exam (NVTE), to receive licensure to practice in Louisiana as a Registered Veterinary Technician.
“Registered veterinary technicians are in high demand in Louisiana, and are listed as one of the most rapidly growing professions in our state. Most of our graduates will work at veterinary practices, but other career opportunities are available, including research, governmental work, veterinary services, animal control and rescue, and other animal health businesses,” said Dr. Becky Adcock, Veterinary Technology Program Director.
Admission to the BRCC Veterinary Technology Program is selective. Students interested in the program are required to complete prerequisite courses in math, biology, English, and animal health courses. They must take an entrance exam, write a personal statement, and complete an application for admission.
