Our adult population has discovered that college can be a valuable enrichment experience regardless of one’s age and is also often the most important factor in creating new career opportunities or enhancing existing careers. The faculty and staff at BRCC are aware of the unique needs and interests of adult learners, and are enthusiastic in their efforts to meet these needs and interests to help adult learners/nontraditional students pursue their dreams of higher education, lifelong learning, distance learning, and workforce and continuing education programs. The experiences, views and unique perspective of older students positively affect the classroom atmosphere and enhance the college learning experience for everyone. We don’t just want more adult students at Baton Rouge Community College; we want to make a difference in people’s lives. It is for this reason that we offer these opportunities for adults. - To assist adult learners/nontraditional students in this endeavor, BRCC has courses offered as early as 7:00am in
- the morning to courses offered in the evening and on Saturdays. Advisors/counselors are available for assistance in
- selecting classes, time management, and counseling if needed. Enrollment Services has extended hours on
- Monday-Thursday from 8:00am to 7:00pm to assist in the enrollment process.
Financial concerns can be a major reason why many adults are hesitant to return to school. At BRCC, we feel deeply that no one should ever have to give up their dream of higher education because of financial concerns. That is why we participate in the federal financial aid programs such as Pell Grants and Stafford Loans, offer scholarships to those who qualify, and an interest free payment plan. Please see “Financing Your Education” link for additional information. Another source you may want to explore is your employer’s human resource department. Many companies offer tuition reimbursement benefits for their employees.
You will feel welcomed and supported at BRCC. We look forward to seeing you on campus!
