As access to capital improves with the economy, individuals and businesses will start building new construction to respond to increasing need for residential and commercial space. Don’t be left behind when the next construction boom develops in what is now Louisiana’s most populous parish, East Baton Rouge. Develop new skills or take your career to the next level by advancing your trade or becoming a manager.

Corporate and Continuing Education Construction Courses are broken into five areas:

 

  • Safety
  • Construction Business
  • Technical Training
  • Green Building
  • Special Programs

 

Safety courses include Blood Borne Pathogens Training, OSHA 10-hour Safety Training, Construction Site Safety Technician, Community First Aid/CPR, and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) Training.

Construction Business courses include Command Spanish for Construction, Construction Business 101, Estimating, General Contractor’s Exam Prep, Planning and Scheduling, Primavera P6, Crew Leader, and Project Supervision.

Technical Training courses include Blueprint Reading, Electrical Levels 1 -4, Electrical Exam Prep, Carpentry, Site Layout, Rigging Fundamentals, Motor Control, and Interpreting Isometric Drawings.

Green Building courses include Energy Performance Auditor, Geothermal Design and Installation, Green Building Technologies, Solar Panel Design and Installation, and Solar Thermal Design and Installation.

Special Programs include the Residential Building Inspector Program made up of three courses that cover Electrical Building Inspector, Plan Review and Building Inspector. The program offers the required training mandated by state law in order for building inspectors to be certified and licensed by the state of Louisiana.

Many of the construction courses are taught on Saturdays or in the evenings to allow those currently working in construction fields time to attend class.
