Two-Year Associate & Technical Scholarships

Open enrollment for the Two-Associate & Technical Scholarships has begun and Shell Students with military experience and honorably discharged are encouraged to apply is currently offering scholarships over a two to three-year period to students who are currently enrolled in or are planning to enroll in any of the following two-year and technical degree programs.

  • Compressor/Compression Technology
  • Instrumental/Analyzer Technology
  • Production Technology
  • Electrical/Electronics Technology
  • Machinist/Mechanical Technology
  • Petroleum Technology
  • Industrial Maintenance Technology

  • Industrial Marine Electronic Technology
  • Welding



WHO IS ELIGIBLE

  • Both full-time and part-time students are eligible for the scholarships.
  • Eligible expenses included tuition, books, fees, and educational supplies.
  • Scholarship continuation will be evaluated at the end of each semester and will be based on student performance as described in the eligibility criteria.
  • The scholarship award is primarily based on scholastic performance. The minimum application criterion is a 2.5 grade point average. Once awarded, the recipient must maintain a 2.5 grade point average and remain in good standing in the degree program.
  • The applicant must be a US citizen or authorized to work on a full-time basis in the United States.
  • Military students are encouraged to apply

BRCC Foundation Scholarships

Each year BRCC students are awarded scholarships from generous local businesses and associations. Students who are interested in applying for any of these scholarships for the 15-16 academic year can do so beginning during the middle of the 2015 spring semester. Below is a complete list of these scholarships and their providers. Any student who submits an application is applying for all of the scholarships that he or she is eligible for. Only one submission is necessary.

 

 

American Gas Association Scholarship

The American Gas Association represents more than 200 local energy companies committed to the safe and reliable delivery of clean natural gas to more than 65 million customers throughout the nation.


Scholarship Award Range: $1000 - $3000

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.80
  • Major in Welding, HVAC Technology Mechanical Systems, or Engineering Technology/Technicians
  • Have not been awarded this scholarship previously

 

Hollywood Casino Scholarship

Located across the street from the state capital on the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown Baton Rouge, Hollywood Casino has been committed to supporting the local community since they first opened their doors in 1994.

Recipients are selected based on financial need; special consideration is given to employees of Hollywood Casino and their children.


Scholarship Award Range: $500 - $1500

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50
  • Major in Hospitality and Tourism, Culinary Arts, Information Technology, Marketing, or Business Administration
  • Reside in Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, or St. Helena Parish

 


Mid-City Merchants Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by the Mid-City Merchants Association which works to improve the neighborhood and businesses in the mid-city area of Baton Rouge.

 

Scholarship Award Range: $300 - $500

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.00
  • Major in Business

 

Vision 21 Scholarship

The founders of Vision 21 Foundation have a simple plan "to collectively perform good and honorable acts, with the hope that these acts improve the work we know and our descendants will know.”

Special consideration is given to students who have an interest in community service. Financial need may be considered.

 

Scholarship Award Range: $400 – $1300 ($1300 during fall/spring and $400 during summer)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50
  • Have completed one full-time semester at BRCC
  • Must not be receiving TOPS

 


Formosa Scholarships in PTEC

Founded in 1954 Formosa is a global leader in petrochemical, plastics, and a variety of other industries.

 

Scholarship Award Range: $500 - $1000

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Admitted into the PTEC program
  • Successfully completed 30 hours in PTEC courses
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.60

 


Georgia Gulf Process Technology Scholarship (Axiall)

Formally known as Georgia Gulf, Axiall is a new leader in the chemistry sector, with holdings and expertise in chlor-alkali and chlorovinyl materials.

 

Scholarship Award Range: $250 - $1000

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Admitted into the PTEC program
  • Successfully completed 30 hours in PTEC courses
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.60
  • Present or past resident of Iberville Parish by proof of address or driver’s license

 


Solvay USA Scholarship in PTEC

Established in 1863 and located on Airline Highway, Solvay USA is a global company driven by proud and committed chemists. Their products serve diversified markets worldwide, from consumer goods to energy, with one main aim - to improve quality of life and customer performance.


Scholarship Award Range: $500 - $1000

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00
  • Registered in PTEC classes
