Federal Work Study

Student Employment Program

The Student Employment Program is designed to give you an opportunity for part-time employment while attending BRCC. That part-time employment offers...

  • Flexible schedule around your classes
  • Convenient work locations
  • Chance to increase your work experience
  • Pleasant work environments
  • An opportunity to develop your interpersonal skills

Federal Work-Study (FWS)

Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a need based financial aid award. It is a federally funded, college administered program, designed to help students defray the costs of post-secondary education.

A FWS award cannot be used to meet registration fees. You are paid for hours worked, based on time submitted by your department through the college payroll system. You are eligible to work up to the point that your cumulative earnings equal the amount of your FWS award. It is the responsibility of both the student and the hiring department to monitor earnings to prevent working beyond the awarded amount.

All FWS recipients must be enrolled at least part-time (6 Credit Hours). You must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other possible required documentation.

Federal Work Study Positions

Fall/Spring/Summer Student Workers:

You must be awarded Federal Work-Study to work one of these jobs for the Fall/Spring semester. You can verify your work-study award amount on your award letter.

New Summer Student Workers:

You will not have an award until you have been approved for a work-study assignment by a hiring supervisor.

After reviewing over the job list, if you see a department you are interested in, please contact that department for an interview. You may take the copy of the job list with you. The hiring department will provide an employment application if needed. The work-study application and the Employment Authorization Form is on the website under financial aid work-study forms. Once the forms have been completed and signed by a hiring supervisor the paperwork must be returned to the Office of Financial Aid for a work-study packet and other important information.

Office Hours for positions listed are 8:00am-6:00pm unless otherwise indicated.

Pay Rate for positions listed is $9.00 per hour unless otherwise indicated. Payroll is paid bi-weekly.
