Not sure what you want to do when you graduate? Are you still undecided in your degree? DISCOVER can help you find a major!

1. Log on to DISCOVER at http://www.act.org/discover and enter your User ID and Password. (You may get a User ID and Password from the receptionist in the Counseling, Advising, and Disability Services office in the Bienvenue Student Center or you may e-mail the career counselor at friev@mybr.edu )

2. Select: Inventories from the main menu

Select: Interest Inventory
Select: Take Inventory Online and complete the inventory.
* If you already have scores from SII or Self-Directed Search (SDS), select Enter scores from an Inventory Taken on Paper. Enter your scores.

Select: Abilities Inventory
Select: Take Inventory Online and complete the inventory.

Select: Values Inventory
Select: Take Inventory Online and complete the inventory.

Select: Inventories Summary to view your results online or print from your browser bar.

Select: One or two career areas that were suggested by the inventories (for example, Y. Community Services has an I,A,V beside it). You can click on a career area to view a list of occupations.
Use the "Add to my Favorites" button to bookmark one or two favorite career areas before going to the next step!

3. Select: Majors from the main menu. This section allows you to explore majors that are related to the personal characteristics identified in the inventories above.

  Select: By World-of-Work Map. This section allows you to find a major that provides training for your favorite career areas. You will see the World-of-Work Map with a list of career areas. Look for a star beside your favorite career area(s).

When you click on your favorite career area(s), you will get a list of majors. If you want to learn more about a major, click on the title to get general information and information about courses, schools, related occupations, and related majors.

4. Print out the list of majors and make an appointment with your advisor or counselor!
