- The Innovative Learning and Academic Support
New students first encounter the learner-centered environment of Baton Rouge Community College in the Testing Center. The Accuplacer test gives our academic advisors relevant information that allows the College to place students on the most appropriate academic path. The Academic Learning Center provides extensive services for our learners while partnering with our faculty to increase retention, transfer, and completion. Closing the loop on student success, the Center for Teaching+Learning Enhancement partners with the ALC to provide innovative, research-based faculty development solutions for our faculty. Students looking to enhance their learning abilities can enroll in the for-credit course College Success Skills 1023. The class is offered in face-to-face versions (full semester; 12 week and 7 week) as well as online and hybrid versions.
The evolution of education continues as BRCC strives to meet students where they are by providing learning opportunities in many different models. The Innovative Learning programs provide alternative course offerings via online or evening and weekend face-to-face classes. In addition, students may be able to earn credit using our prior learning assessment policy or college level examination program. Additionally, students looking to earn a GED can enroll in our Adult Basic Education and Jobs for America's Graduates programs.
